A unique and inspiring hard bop exploration that while organic in presentation moves as the perfect storm of texture and color.

The essence of Horizons is of an intimate yet intense soundscape inspired by the forces of nature. The all star band of trumpet master Sean Jones, the multi-dimensional style of J.D. Allen and the amazing rhythm section of drummer Rudy Royston and bassist Greg August are a thunderclap of deceptively subtle textures.
Nine out of the twelve compositions are solid original efforts from Hilton. Highlight abound throughout this most adventurous release. The straight ahead swing of "Nocturnal" pairs nicely against the lighter almost whimsical approach found with the tune "Perfect Day." Much like the variety found in nature, expect the unexpected. The impressionistic spin of the solo work "When It Rains" along with the smoldering rhythm section work on The Black Keys "Gold On The Ceiling" are the jewels in this melodic crown.
A spatial and expansive release that never gets in it's own way, Lisa Hilton is the real deal!
