Joyland is a solid effort from one of the most underrated guitarists today...

While U.K. guitarist Chris Spedding has established himself as one of the finest session players in the business, Joyland has serious cross over potential and will hopefully have this artist gaining a wider following. At 70 most musicians are packing it in but Chris Spedding's Joyland includes such luminaries as Bryan Ferry and former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock on a release that is not only a showcase of versatility but a highlight of just how deep his talents run.
Sound can be difficult to produce, harder still to write about. From an edgy sound to rockabilly Duane Eddy riffs, Spedding proves he is indeed the real deal. From the open ended "Heisenberg" to the slightly rougher "Gun Shaft City" with Bryan Ferry or "Café Racer" with Glen Matlock there are nuanced layers of sound that have been meticulously crafted for a most intriguing release sure to delight six string aficionados across the globe.
