Not me being smart, an actual movie title...see below
Naturally I haven't seen the movie but the trailer is oddly reminiscent of some of the race baiting idiocy that Spike Lee continues to roll out. Something "original" would at least be nice but here is my issue.
If I changed the name of my site to "Jazz For Whitey" then I would have a line of NAACP lawyers that stretched from my front door to Washington D.C. Thought Obama was going to heal racial tension, oh yeah he was going to do it all...
A jazz musician that I have deep respect for liked and shared the above page. It is nothing more than a hypocritical double standard. Allow me to hip you to some improvisational reality. There are a group of black musicians working "up east" that are not even 35. I would lay down good money they have never been refused service at any establishment or experienced any form of discrimination on the same level that icons such as Dizzy, Bird, Ellington or Trane did YET...they ride on their reputation without building their own. Racism? You decide. It is disingenuous at best to pretend you hold the cultural keys to the kingdom based on race alone. This same group blames their race for what they are and what they are not, can't have it both ways fellows.
Music much like film is for everyone. Of course racism exists, it will NEVER go away but what purpose does this movie serve other than to alienate and divide the public.
I dig satire. I hate bad taste.
