University Hospital of Louisville Engages In Unethical Billing Practises!

So what does this have to do with music?

Nothing outside of the fact I am a music critic and have lived this story...

I have liver cancer...My health is tanking as you read this. The University of Louisville Hospital has some of the finest doctors in the world yet some of the worst and most inept billing agents you could imagine...

My story? I will keep is as short as I can...

University Hospital billing representative Sheila DeWalt sent me an email admitting they were not applying indigent care benefits as they should as they were waiting on me to file as S.S.I claim...You first have to get disability to do that. I didn't have it and after getting five collections notices on five different bills and beating them all; they did go away, except for one. Ms. DeWalt sent me another email telling me - you are not responsible for the bill and to "not worry about it." The collection notices kept coming.

During this time the University employed a third party subrogation outfit that attempted to hijack my disability claim and become my official "legal representatives" - all in an effort to get paid. I called them on it and they backed off immediately. Unethical? You make the call...I have made the more than reasonable request of a billing audit on my account and again the University of Louisville REFUSES to cooperate on any professional level.

My disability attorney (Hughes and Coleman) confirmed my findings...Yet, I am still hounded for a bill they say I do not owe. Am I simply the exception or is University Hospital continuing to screw the indigent care patients that have neither the knowledge or ability to fight their system? My bills / benefits were held hostage...I have the documentation yet no media outlet in Louisville will look at this as a viable story...I guess if  I were a poor black man the story would be different.

I have written 3 detailed letters to the University of Louisville President (Dr. James Ramsey) and with no response...The U of L Medical School is currently under probation and their indigent care program was ripped by the State Auditor....Where there is smoke there is fire...
