News From Michael Gallant!

Dear Friends,
I'm excited to share some big news: the follow-up album to Completely, by the Michael Gallant Trio, is underway!

In eleven days in Toronto, Canada, I'll be performing live - and recording the concert for inclusion in an upcoming Trio live album project, to be completed and released in 2015. Please read on for details, as well as a heads up about a new, piano-heavy article I recently wrote for DownBeat magazine.
Concert and Live Album Recording in Toronto: Tuesday, 9/16
With the help of the great Dmitry Ishenko (bass) and Rob Mitzner (drums), the Michael Gallant Trio will play Toronto's Musideum, a sublime and intimate listening room and rare musical instrument dealer in one. The concert will be recorded for live album release - so we hope that those of you nearby will join for the fun!

Tuesday, September 16, 8:00 p.m.
401 Richmond Street West
Suite 133
Toronto, ON, Canada
with Dmitry Ishenko (bass) and
Rob Mitzner (drums)
$20 ($15 students and seniors)
Audience members are invited to pre-order the album following the performance. Space is limited and seats can be reserved ahead of time here
Even if you're miles away, please consider helping to spread the word - as this is our first time playing this music north of the border, any referrals to music-loving locals would be sincerely appreciated.
New Feature on High-End Pianos in DownBeat Magazine

Over the last several months, I had the privilege of digging into a meaty and intriguing topic for a feature article in DownBeat magazine: a peak inside the musicality, marketing, and creation of the finest (and most expensive) concert grand pianos in the world.
The piece talks about beautifully crafted instruments from companies like Fazioli, Bosendorfer, Steinway, Shigeru Kawai, Yamaha, and Ravenscroft. The four-page article was published in the September, 2014 issue of DownBeat, currently on newsstands. Please check it out!
This article was huge fun to research - case in point, here's a video of me taking the vivid Ravenscroft Model 275 for a spin at the Winter NAMM show.
