It's The Economy Stupid...Raising The Minimum Wage

Got into a cyber fire fight with a naïve liberal last night over raising the minimum wage. Her stellar argument was based strictly on "fairness" which is the politically correct term for Marxist wealth redistribution. Let's follow this train of thought for a minute...

Someone with little to no education and menial skills at best will get a 24% pay raise. (A larger raise than most politicians). Is that any more or less fair that a family of four where mom has to work outside the house or dad works a second job to help pay medical bills, the mortgage and buy food? It is NOT a question of fairness...

What is "fair" is what YOU earn...

Google "Will raising the minimum wage hurt the economy?" The overwhelming answers are always yes and here is why...
1.) Export pricing will go up and countries will stop buying our crap.
2.) Businesses can not afford it and will be forced to lay off and or shut their doors which is their right. They are under no obligation to stay open and go broke.
3.) The Democrats do this close to every election to wrangle up some votes...it's pretty clear.

It's that simple...This person went on to talk about the expense of living in Brooklyn - If you can't afford it then leave. Because someone chose what they thought was an easy if not stupid path of not pursing any type of advanced education or training is it fair for the government to compensate you for being lazy when people work two jobs all the time if not more to get an education. The government is not responsible for your bad choices in life - you are and only you.

Raising the minimum wage will cost jobs and further damage an economy that still has not recovered. Sure the unemployment rate is 6.1% BUT...factor in those that have been out of the workforce and dropped off the unemployment rolls and you are looking at 12% according to the Department of Labor...Fairness? What is fair about forcing a business to close their doors and adding to the current mess that Obama said he could fix but obviously can not
