This Saturday, I'm venturing west to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to play two sets at MusikFest - my first time performing at the epic, annual, ten-day festival. Just three days later, I'll be back in New York City for the Michael Gallant Trio's monthly residency at Tomi Jazz, this time, with a very special guest filling out the band. Please read on for full details, and a wonderful development with one of my recent recording collaborations.
MusikFest on Saturday; Tomi on Tuesday
I'm excited to perform at MusikFest, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania's summer blowout, which features headliners like Sheryl Crow, Steely Dan, Keith Urban, and Weezer. Please join us!
MusikFest is a huge event, so please consider showing up early to check out all of the fun - and be sure to look at parking information and the festival map before heading out.
Shortly thereafter, I'm excited to be back in New York at Tomi Jazz with a special guest - the great Shawn Pelton, veteran of the Saturday Night Live band, on drums.
Shawn is also a top-call drummer for New York recording sessions; I wrote an article about his experiences and prolific career for the Disc Makers ECHOES blog last year (click here to read) and am excited to collaborate with him on the bandstand as well.
Hope to see you there for sake, okonomiyaki, and jams!
Recording (and Writing) Collaboration Debuts at #1
Earlier this year, I had the privilege of recording piano, and writing the album notes, for Winds of Samsara, a new album by South African flutist Wouter Kellerman and Indian composer Ricky Kej. The album dropped on July 15 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts! Click here for more on the album's ascension.
You can hear me playing acoustic piano on Wouter and Ricky's "Journey to Higher Ground" - and read excerpts from the album notes here. To download the album, visit iTunes.
