JJ Cale left this planet last year and long time friend Eric Clapton has put together a collection that is a heart warming tribute and moving celebration of what this American musical legend left for us to enjoy.
This is not a typical tribute release by any sense of word. The Breeze is a release that includes cameos from Willie Nelson, Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty, Don White, and a few more friends such as Derek Trucks. This is not a release where Tom Petty does "his" version of "Rock and Roll Records." This is a release where careful attention was paid to work the arrangements into that signature laid back cool that is the wheelhouse of the JJ Cale catalog.
Other greats contributions come from Nathan East, Jim Keltner, Albert Lee, and Doyle Bramhall II. JJ Cale was arguably the finest American singer / songwriter with the amazing ability to transcend genres and simply embrace a good lyric. I'll leave you with an official video...
