More than a fitting tribute to George Duke, Al Jarreau and friends turn out a gem!

Al Jarreau and George Duke were good friends. My Old Friend: Celebrating George Duke includes some other old friends such as Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Boney James to name but a few. What would a party be without something from the guest of honor as the celebration would not be complete without a special performance on the track "Bring Me Joy" with Boney James. Duke was few of the legitimate triple threats in music. As keyboardist, producer and composer there was little doubt there was not much Duke could not tackle as an artist and this may be but one of the reasons he was so respected among his peers.
There are some old favorites here as well as a few more eclectic tunes reinvented while keeping the integrity of the original melodies intact. The collective strength of the talent assembled here speaks for itself. Tribute releases are often fraught with peril. My Old Friend: Celebrating George Duke is an artistic triumph!
