A Pink Floyd Update!

While U-2 remains mercifully locked away in a studio attempting to figure out how to finish a release they began promoting almost a year earlier, Pink Floyd announced they too have a new release pending...sort of.

Thanks to insomnia due to my continued fight with liver disease, I stumbled across an interesting article in what I consider to be the Weekly World News of modern political thought otherwise known as The Huffington Post. Here is what we appear to know at this time:

1.) This is Rick Wright's swan song. I'll explain why no one cares in a minute.
2.) Roger Waters is apparently out as he is working on a new solo recording or protesting something somewhere...
3.) This new release happens to be unreleased tracks from the Division Bell sessions, a sonic mistake that was released twenty or twenty five years ago. Remember the release? Of course not and there is an obvious reason why. Listed as a beautiful swan song, these previously unreleased tracks have the potential to be either feast or famine off a release that essentially was a disappointment to a significant number of fans and critics alike. A new Pink Floyd release in name only.
4.) Oddly enough David Gilmore is also set to release a new solo recording with the irony being that with the departure of Waters, Pink Floyd became the original or perhaps best known solo vehicle for Gilmore...

Excited yet? Somewhere Syd Barrett is smiling...
