Mindi Abair Number 1!

GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist/vocalist Mindi Abair’s Wild Heart
debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz & Current Jazz Charts!
On May 27,  Mindi Abair released Wild Heart, which features guest performances by – and songwriting collaborations with – Gregg Allman, Joe Perry, Booker T. Jones, Keb’ Mo’, Trombone Shorty, Max Weinberg, Waddy Wachtel and others.
Abair is one of the most dynamic performers on the music scene today.  In addition to her acclaimed solo work, she was the featured saxophonist on the 2011 and 2012 seasons of American Idol and joined rock legends Aerosmith for their 2012 summer tour. More recently, she received a 2014 GRAMMY nomination in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category for Summer Horns, a #1 recording with her friends Dave Koz, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliot.
Critical acclaim for Wild Heart:
“Organist Booker T. Jones adds a steaming helping of Memphis soul to this track from the saxophonist’s Wild Heart album.”
“Addicted to You” USA Today’s Playlist
“It’s utterly unpretentious and a total blast.”
M Music & Musicians
“Though it pays unapologetic tribute to retro inspirations, it does so with 21st century sophistication, a gritty, raucous spirit, and exceptional creative imagination.” ***1/2
All Music
“Mindi Abair is probably the coolest, sexiest, most down to earth and talented saxophone players in recent history. She’s graced arenas across the world with some of rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest players (cough, cough -- the Boss) and she’s done it all with style. With blonde flowing hair matching that shiny gold sax at her hip, Abair has an undeniable presence in the music industry.”
Broward-Palm Beach New Times
“For this project, Abair brings along some musical heavyweights that include Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Jim Peterik (Ides of March/Survivor), Waddy Wachtel, Max Weinberg and even an emotional duet with the legendary Gregg Allman. By capturing raw emotion, power and synergy, Abair delivers an album unlike any she’s ever done. Wild Heart is definitely not your father’s jazz record, nor one that you sit down with over a glass of wine. Rather, it’s an album to rock out to and savor.”
“While not completely shying away from the infectious melodic pop vibe that has driven some of her best loved hits like her breakthrough ‘Lucy’s,’ ‘Flirt,’ ‘True Blue’ and ‘Bloom,’ Abair’s recent collaborations with rockers inspired her to amp up the power and play with abandon on her seventh album, the perfectly titled Wild Heart. While alternately keeping her horn and always-charming vocals front and center, she invites some high caliber musical talent to the party, all of whom help her take her artistry to the next level: Trombone Shorty, Gregg Allman, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, Booker T. Jones, Keb’ Mo’, Max Weinberg, famed sessions guitarist Waddy Wachtel and others.”
Jazz Monthly
“Overall, Mindi Abair offers something for everyone on this exceptional program.”
Sounds of Timeless Jazz
“This is the Mindi Abair release we have been waiting for!” *****
“The CD is a refreshing deviation from Abair’s usual deliveries, which, of course, have all been demonstrations of magnificent work anyway. This atypical approach only adds to her overall appeal. Literally, Wild Heart rocks.”
