One of the best indie-folk bands you could hope to hear!

Hippie chic...The Shook Twins are not exactly newbies but What We Do could easily be the break out release this Portland Oregon band has been looking for. Alternative, folk, strong melodies and a slight indie country vibe just below the surface finds the identical twins Laurie and Katelyn Shook ready to grab a wider audience than ever before.
The sound is familiar but different. Lyrically reminiscent of R.E.M. while the vocal harmonies hold a deconstructed Indigo Girls vibe. In the more than predictable indie-folk market, The Shook Twins have found their niche and with that an execution that should have some more established bands looking over their shoulder. They do venture into some social commentary however they don't hit you over the head with it but rather give you a gentle reminder. The instrumental presentation is so well constructed they could be singing Dr. Seuss and it really wouldn't make much difference. The instrumentation is acoustic with guitar, violin, mandolin etc. The presentation is honest, sincere, and shows these twins have found a nitch and know exactly who they are as artists. Are they the best at what they do? I don't know. Taste is subjective. On a personal note, I really like these girls and think they deserve recognition on a far wider stage then they have been able to command thus far. Please check out the link below:
