A Word From Michael Gallant!

Dear Friends,

Many thanks again to everyone who came to the March show at Tomi Jazz! I'm excited to share that I'll be back there in just under two weeks, with the same great players, for two Saturday night sets. If you're in the New York area, please join us!

I'm also excited to announce more new shows for 2014, including two festival dates and an alumni concert at the school where I first learned to improvise on the piano. Please read on for details, and a new video as well.
Michael Gallant Trio at Tomi Jazz: May 10

Back in March, I had a great time jamming with Rob Mitzner (drums) and Dmitry Ishenko (bass) at this wonderful, underground music venue / sake bar. The kind folks there asked us back, so we'll be performing two late-night sets on the Saturday of Mother's Day Weekend.
Saturday, May 10Sets at 11:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
239 East 53rd Street, Lower Level
New York City
$10 cover; $10 food/drink minimum
As per last time, we'll be playing plenty of material from Completely, along with a few brand new compositions and arrangements.

New Yorkers (mothers and otherwise), we hope to see you there! And for those out of the area, any sharing you can do with tri-staters who might enjoy this music would be wonderfully appreciated.
Three More Shows
Keep an eye on gallantmusic.com, and on future emails, for more details as they come. In the meantime, please save the dates!

Birthday Show
Levine School of Music
2801 Upton Street, NW
Washington, DC

I first learned to improvise on the piano at the Levine School, thanks to my late teacher and mentor Maria Rodriguez (the inspiration behind the song "The Real Maria" off of Completely). I'm honored to be included - on my birthday, nonetheless! - in the school's alumni concert series.
New Video: Live at Red Poppy
If you weren't in San Francisco to catch the Red Poppy Art House performance with the great Andrew Higgins on bass and Eric Garland on drums, here's a guerrilla video of "Cornelia Street Tango" that captures some very fun interactions, and quite a bit of the overall vibe, from that night:

Thanks as always for listening, reading, watching, and supporting this music. I look forward to seeing many of you back at Tomi, or another concert, very soon!
