The L.A. Treasures Project CHJO Capri 2014

A celebration of swing!

There are big bands and then there is the explosive Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, swing with swagger! CHJO Live At Alvas Showroom features to critically acclaimed vocalists and legends in Ernie Andrews and Barbara Morrison. Time tested standards, smoldering blues and imaginative originals turn this offering into a very special live set that once again reminds us of just how much power a really good big band can harness.

"Fever" and "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" are somewhat polar opposites yet showcase the diversity and varied lyrical paths this ensemble can navigate with precision and panache. Andrews and Morrison can still bring it! Rising star, guitarist Graham Dechter brings the blues to a slow boil with "I Ain't Got Nothin' But The Blues" while drummer Jeff Hamilton keeps everyone on the rhythmic straight and narrow throughout the release.

More than a documentation of a special night for music, John and Jeff Clayton are the standard bearers for the historical importance and implications of what an even such as this truly means. A celebration of the past with an eye toward the future.
That's entertainment!
