Randy Brecker and the Brecker Brothers Band Reunion Piloo Records and Productions LLC

Randy Brecker: Randy Brecker: The Brecker Brothers Band Reunion

The Brecker Brothers Band was far more than a band. The Brecker Brothers epitomized the Big Apple melting pot of lyrical fusion with a flash fried funk sound that simply can not be duplicated.

Randy Brecker has pulled the ultimate musical rabbit out of the hat. The Brecker Brothers Band Reunion are far more than a tribute to past glory but instead a tribute to the natural evolution of a band that was as much an attitude as it was perhaps the finest fusion band of a generation.

Randy Brecker still does not get the ink he deserves to this day. While other trumpet players proudly proclaim themselves as the savior of archaic pop, Randy Brecker has carved out an exemplary career as a composer, instrumentalist, prolific session ace and perhaps most importantly that of a highly respected clinician. The Reunion disc is a triumph to not only the artistic spirit of the Brecker Brothers but to the ability to embrace the vision of where the harmonic road less traveled may have in fact taken this incredible band.

The players here are familiar and include David Sanborn, Mike Stern, and Dave Weckl and all banging it out at the top of their game. Some of the tunes such as "Some Skunk Funk" are familiar and simply crushed by this all star collective. Some tunes such as the Michael Brecker number "Straphangin'" may certainly have a few people wondering where they heard that before but the overall release fires on all cylinders.

Simply put, a stellar release that is more than deserving of not only the Grammy nomination but the wide spread critical acclaim that has been chasing this release through a myriad of publications.

You never review genius, you celebrate it!
