Mike DiRubbo Is Making A New Record And You Can Be A Part!

20130916113817-md

Not the best photo but times are hard and we are all on a budget...

Alto Saxophone player Mike DiRubbo is hitting cyber space in an attempt to raise funds for his quintet project.

I reviewed Mike's last release on Posi-Tone and as is typical of all Posi-Tone releases, only the best in straight ahead music. Evidently Mike is on his own as so many artists find themselves and is seeking some help. From a critical standpoint Mike can hold his own with anyone on a bandstand so let us move on...

Labels only have so much cash to spend, even established artists such as Wayne Escoffery from Tom Harrell's band have used fund raising sites. A minimum investment in a record is ten large, easy. Session players, post production, studio time all adds up. You can be a part of this recording. Don't bitch that great artists are not getting air play if  you are not trying to be part of the solution. I am in my own fundraising efforts thanks to advanced liver disease but I will never turn my back on quality talent looking to make it happen on their own. Mike is a good guy, well respected and earned a five star review here.

When N.P.R. went under did you write a five dollar check? Probably not...Tell you what, skip one Starbucks run and challenge one jazz friend to do the same thing. Do it once a week and issue challenges on your own social media site...The money can, will and does add up!

Check out this link and Mike can tell you more about it. Please note, I did this on my own. A friend of Mike's hipped me to this so now consider yourself hipped as well...
