Gladys Knight is the original diva...none better.

Thanks once again to the fine folks at Funky Town Grooves we have yet another stellar reissue.
Imagination is the best selling Gladys Knight & The Pips release and an iconic R&B record that still sounds as remarkably fresh today as it did back in the day. A reissue is not without certain sonic landmines but not here, minimal compression always the warmth of the original master to come across as organically as possible and sets the tone for a stellar offering.
"Midnight Train To Georgia" along "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" take center stage but truth be told there are no bad tracks here, just varying degrees of greatness. The Pips are that blast from the past that simply sound so good. People can argue the overall consistency of a Gladys Knight release but they need to take into account this was when radio airplay mattered. Album rock was left to Led Zeppelin, Gladys Knight & The Pips were all about the single as were virtually every other R&B act of that time. With the advancement of technology and the shift to other platforms and the natural evolution of the industry, Gladys Knight & The Pips were collateral damage and that is a crime against everything that was good and true with the industry.
There are three number one singles here but an added bonus would have to be a previously unreleased instrumental version of "Midnight Train To Georgia." The influence of Gladys Knight and The Pips continues to this day and if your old album is a bit worn then check out this reissue from Funky Town Grooves!
