Tommy Flanagan Jaki Byard The Magic of 2 Resonance.

The Magic of 2: Live at Keystone KornerResonance Records to release "Tommy Flanagan/Jaki Byard: The Magic of 2" on April 9th.

Unparalleled in live jazz recordings. Resonance records may have released arguably their finest compilation to date in the pairing of Tommy Flanagan and Jyard. These two titans of jazz piano are captured at their creative heights in a two disc set Live at the Keystone Korner. While the vocabulary between the two was immense their was a deceptively subtle intimacy that brought these artistic impressionists closer than most.

"Spontaneous Combustion" = "Spontaneous Creativity" with the listener coming out on top. Normally artists are featured on releases of note but here the role is reversed with a label of note churning out top quality product from such historic luminaries as Freddie Hubbard, Wes Montgomery and now with the release of Flanagan and Byard we have what may well be the finest piano duo to date next to a handful of Chick Corea recordings.

Five of the eleven tracks have the duo banging out such classics as "Scrapple From The Apple" along with "Just One of Those Things" and "Satin Doll."

The new release contains liner notes from Bill Charlap, Renee Rosnes, and Jaki's daughter Diane Byard.

Additionally the magical recording includes (in LP addition only) a special commemorative set of Keystone Korner punch cards used by patrons attending the club.

Tracks: Introduction; Scrapple From The Apple; Just One Of Those Things; Satin Doll; Something To Live For; Send One Your Love; Our Delight; All Day Long; Sunday; Chelsea Bridge; Land Of Make Believe; The Theme.
