Arguing best artist in music is like arguing best baseball player both pre and post designated hitter. When it comes to contemporary pianists, Hiromi may well be the most gifted artist to hit the scene in the last decade with a discography perhaps only rivaled by Chick Corea in terms of diversity alone.
Hiromi's original compositions have won over fans and critics world wide while she also functions as a musical sponge from a myriad of influences that run from classical to jazz fusion and even rock.
The stunning DVD Live In Marciac is a follow up to her critically acclaimed 2011 release Voice and features a trio rounded out with contrabass wizard Anthony Jackson (Paul Simon & Steely Dan) and drummer Simon Phillips (The Who & David Gilmour). This beautifully shot DVD includes six Hiromi originals as well as Beethoven's Piano Sonata No.8, Pathetique and a special bonus feature. Hiromi was looking for that "three dimensional sound" on her 2011 release Voice and in this particular live setting she achieves her goal while putting this all star trio through their paces. An incredible virtuoso performance from Hiromi shows her exponential growth since her 2003 debut as well as her amazing improvisational technique and stirring originality. Beautifully shot with magnificent sound this is a can't miss DVD for any library!
