In wrapping my interview up with Reggie Quinerly there is always the common yet interesting question of, "Who are your musical inspirations and what was the last disc that you bought?" I like this question because while seemingly generic it often gives special insight into the artistic DNA of the artist.
R.Q. - " It's much easier to pinpoint my inspirations by looking through my ipod's current play list (which is purposely kept small for 3 or 4 months at a time). Don Byas, Lucky Thompson, Billy Joel, The Pharcyde, 1930's era Duke Ellington, two Nat King Cole records and believe it or not my guilty pleasure is listening to a lot of commercial radio. I wouldn't say I'm directly influenced by any pop music per se, but I'm always interested in the current trends. Honestly, the last disc that I bought was Company Flow's 1007 album Funcrusher Plus. I'm also a pretty big underground hip hop fan."
Please enjoy this You Tube clip, a sort of behind the scenes look at the making of a very special recording. I also want to sincerely thank Reggie for his time as well as his publicist for making this happen!
